What is LightSquared?

You may or may not have heard all the fuss about an upcoming company called LightSquared. Intermittently they have been featured in the news, internet articles, and some youtube videos. Personally, I've been following this private company since their beginning in July, 2010. I accidentally came upon an article about the promising ideas that they offer. They have been growing rapidly ever since.

Lightsquared began from a company known as American Mobile Satellite Corp. After mergers and two satellite launches, the communications company started LightSquared. They are a company that will change global communication, as we know it, forever. By using the global positioning system (GPS), they have found a way use extra bands for mobile internet communication, and they have a license to do it. Basically, they will be able to offer global wireless satellite internet service, at very cheap prices.

Currently, they are battling with the FCC and homeland security basically for the right to operate after investing billions of dollars. With the governement crying that the company is a threat to homeland security, and the FCC skipping out on hearings, it's a little difficult for the company to move on. LightSquared is no threat, if anything, a benefit to society.

LightSquared will take the mobile world by storm. The technology will eliminate the need for cables, and hopefully contracts. It's no wonder why the government is trying to put a stop to the company on grounds of homeland security breaches. It's a conspiracy designed to preserve tax dollars. However, justice will prevail. The company is on schedule, and ready to put giants like Comcast, Charter, and Dish Network out of business (by lowering their prices of course).

I knew, at my initial discovery of this company, that this was a golden investment opportunity. I immediately turned to Microsoft Money for a stock quote. To my disappointment, no stock information was available. They were not on the market yet. So, I emailed LightSquard. About a week later I received a response stating that they were a private company, and that there were no investment options. Still to this day, I check MSN at least weekly for a stock symbol.

Humans are making yet another huge technological advance in communication. It is exciting. It means new investment opportunities, declining communication prices, and the phase out of the "contract". Goodbye Verizon, AT&T, and TMobile. Sprint has already signed a 14 billion dollar deal with LightSquared, and things are moving forward quickly. So everyone, keep your eyes and ears open for new developments. When the opportunity for investment comes along, you don't want to get slapped in the face and not notice.
